Special assistance
What is it?
If you have special but necessary expenses that you cannot pay yourself, you can apply for special assistance. These include costs for legal aid, alarms, hot meals, budget management, administrator fees, etc.
Whether you receive special assistance depends on your income and assets such as your car and savings.
Special assistance is not just for people with Social assistance benefit benefits
Anyone can apply for special assistance. It is also available to residents who receive low wages, pensions or other types of benefits. However, the higher your income (and ability to pay), the less special assistance you will receive.
