  • Making connections between formal and informal Health and connecting family caregivers in their own neighborhood or village.

In order to inform inform informal caregivers as well as possible, you can register as an informal caregiver. Respite care

If you are caring for another person, it is important that you are able to hand over the Health for a while from time to time. So that you do not get overburdened and can spend time on your family, friends, work or hobbies. This makes caring more enjoyable and easier. The temporary and complete takeover of your informal care duties is called respite care. Respite care comes in different forms:

Respite care at home

The Health is taken over at home if possible, allowing you to leave home while the caregiver can remain in familiar surroundings. This Health at home is especially appropriate if the person you care for likes to stay in their own familiar surroundings or if transportation poses problems. If the Health cannot be provided by a volunteer, a professional is eligible.

Examples of respite care at home include:

  • Playing with a disabled child;
  • Supervising someone with dementia;
  • Watching over someone in the final stages of life.

Respite care outside the home

With respite care away from home, you as a family caregiver have some time at home for yourself or to get away. The person you care for goes somewhere. These can be facilities professionals and/or volunteers working together.

You can apply to the Wmo for the facilities Begeleiding (day care) and Kortdurend verblijf (short-stay accommodation). Home care, disability care and mental health organizations can also offer existing facilities such as day care, temporary admission to a nursing or care home, or a children's day care center. It is sometimes possible to provide intensive Health .
