Fireworks during New Year's Eve
Between December 31, 2025, 6:00 p.m. and January 1, 2026, 2:00 a.m., only fireworks from categories F1 and F2 may be set off. These are novelty fireworks, such as ground flowers, decorative fountains, and sparklers. Set off fireworks safely and do so with respect for other people, animals, and the environment so that everyone can enjoy the festive evening. This also means cleaning up any debris afterwards.

Prohibition
Many types of fireworks may not be purchased and/or set off. This includes all fireworks in category F3, firecrackers (such as firecrackers), firecracker strings (such as Chinese mats), rockets, and single-shot tubes (such as single shots). The police and special investigating officers enforce the fireworks regulations.
Don't risk a fine
Failure to comply with these fireworks regulations may result in a fine of at least €100 and a criminal record. Depending on the fireworks violation, the fines or penalties may be considerably higher. It is prohibited to purchase fireworks abroad and bring them into the Netherlands. The police conduct additional checks in border areas.
Report nuisance
Report any nuisance caused by fireworks or suspected illegal possession of fireworks to the police by calling 0900-8844.
