Roggel gets 34 new, sustainable rental homes

The municipality of Leudal, Wonen Zuid and Nester are together starting the redevelopment of the center area at the Beeklaan and Pastoor Hanraetsstraat in Roggel. Old houses will make way for 34 new and energy efficient rental houses.

The project includes 24 housing units from Wonen Zuid (13 life-proof and 11 single-family homes) and 10 life-proof homes from Nester. The homes are energy efficient and prepared for the future. They are at a central location in Roggel, near the school, supermarket, general practitioner and association building La Rochelle.

Collaboration for a future-proof Roggel

Alderman Michel Graef is pleased with the development:

With this project, we are strengthening the livability in the heart of Roggel. We are not only providing new housing, but also a greener and more sustainable center area. This is an important step for the future of the village.

Planning work

Demolition of the old homes has now begun. Construction is expected to begin in late 2025. The first homes will be completed in mid-2026. A construction sign will be placed in the fourth quarter of 2025 and local residents will be further informed.

Renewal of cables, pipes and public space

Because the current facilities are outdated, the utility infrastructure will also be renewed. There will be new cables and pipes for electricity, water, sewerage and fiber optics. In addition, the public space will be addressed. There will be extra parking spaces, more greenery and measures to better collect rainwater and drain it into the Roggelse Beek (Roggel Brook).
The work will be carried out by construction contractor BAM and Horster Wegenbouw Combinatie BV. Utility companies such as Enexis, WML, KPN and Vodafone/Ziggo are taking care of the laying of cables and pipes.
