The omgevingswet provides tools for the management and development of the living environment. The law works through 4 Orders in Council (AMvBs). The rules in the AMvBs are further elaborated in ministerial regulations.

(Core) instruments

The main tools now are:

• Environmental vision
  In the environmental vision, the municipality lays down wishes and policy goals for the living environment. This applies to the entire municipality.

• Environment plan
  Every municipality has 1 environment plan. This plan contains all the municipality's rules for the living environment. These rules apply the entire municipality and to anyone who wants to perform an activity. Want to read more about the environmental plan? Check the page Environment plan Leudal.
• Environmental Permit
  If you want to change something in your living environment, such as building a new house or remodeling an existing house (dormer, addition), you need to apply for an environmental permit.
