Leudal Environmental Vision, Naturally!
On December 9, 2025, the municipal council adopted the Leudal, Naturally! environmental vision. This vision outlines the municipality's long-term ambitions and policy goals for the period up to 2040. Our main focus is to be a vibrant residential municipality with a dynamic rural area in which innovation and entrepreneurship are key principles.
Why an Environmental Vision?
The new Omgevingswet into force on January 1, 2024. Every municipality must have an environmental vision in place by January 1, 2027. On December 9, 2025, our municipal council adopted the Leudal Environmental Vision, Naturally! This Environmental Vision outlines the most important spatial choices and ambitions for the territory of the municipality of Leudal with a view to 2040. The Environmental Vision forms the basis for more concrete elaborations in the Environmental Plan, the successor to the zoning plan.
A visual vision of the future
The Leudal Environmental Vision, Naturally! is an ambitious and descriptive document that outlines the future of the municipality. With this Environmental Vision, we provide direction for spatial, social, and economic developments and offer a framework for a livable, sustainable, and healthy municipality based on our core values: Peace, Space, and Greenery. And, of course, we will do this together.
The Environmental Vision is an invitation to residents, entrepreneurs, associations, and other partners to help build a Leudal that will still be a great place to live, work, and relax in 2040. The vision offers answers to challenges such as the energy transition and climate change. At the same time, trends and developments also offer opportunities for Leudal. The ever-growing Eindhoven region supports our housing ambitions, which would be well served by a train station in our municipality. The rural area provides space for, among other things, a vital agricultural sector and inviting recreational gems. When realizing spatial developments, we believe it is important that our 16 villages retain their own identity and that characteristic landscape values in our extensive rural areas are protected. The Environmental Vision also addresses social, cultural, and societal values and how these can be balanced with the spatial living environment.
A vision document usually contains a lot of text and is therefore not very appealing. We have chosen to also illustrate our vision (a visualization). This visualization is a tool to present our environmental vision in a simple way. It is not an exact representation of our municipality and is not geographically accurate, but a schematic representation of important elements such as residential areas, business parks, and the countryside. It gives an impression of future developments in the various parts of our municipality. It shows how we want to preserve iconic elements such as windmills and heritage, and how we use construction cranes and puzzle pieces to show that building, renovating, and demolition are necessary to realize our ambitions.
Society is changing, and our municipality is changing with it. This Environmental Vision is an example of this: a broad and integrated vision of the future and a framework for all kinds of developments. The Environmental Vision provides a concise, succinct, and vivid overview of what we want to work on together with you so that in 2040 we can say that Leudal is a wonderful place to live with a vibrant rural area.
