Requesting personal data

What is it?

The municipality maintains personal data on all residents in the Basic Registration of Persons (BRP). The municipality needs this data when you get married, for example, or when your passport expires. If necessary, the municipality may also share your data with other government agencies, such as the tax authorities, the judiciary or the police. Or with organizations such as pension funds and housing associations. See which organizations can get your personal data on the website of the Rijksoverheid.

You can find out what information about you and your minor children is in the BRP by logging in to MijnOverheid.

What to do.

  • Via MijnOverheid you can view your own data or that of your minor children:
  • Log in with your DigiD.
  • Then click on "Personal Information" at the top of the page. Under the BRP heading, you can view your information.

Your personal data with government organizations

Government organizations use the personal data from the BRP to perform their statutory duties. The responsible Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations assesses whether the provision of the data is in accordance with the law and determines which organizations are allowed to consult which information.
In addition, under certain Requirements some bodies may obtain your data from the municipality, for example institutions with a significant social interest. You can find these institutions in the Appendix 2 of the Regulation on the provision of basic registration of persons 2014 Leudal

The Data Protection Board monitors compliance with the BRP Act.

If you do not want certain organizations to receive your personal data, you can ask the municipality to keep personal data confidential

If you want to know what data we have supplied about you in the past time, you can request a summary of it. You can do this in the municipality where you live.

Directly arrange

You can easily request the overview online. To do this, you will need DigiD.

Caution! Do not use this link if you want to request an extract from the basic registration of persons. Request an extract from BRP here.

Requesting overview of benefits in kind

If you wish to request the overview in writing, please send a request to the Municipality of Leudal. Please indicate for which period you would like to inspect the data provision and enclose a copy of your valid ID.

How long does it take?

It takes up to 4 weeks for you to receive the summary. The municipality not only consults its own systems, but also informs which national authorities have accessed your data. This may take some time.
