Research is being conducted into the nesting locations of house sparrows in our municipality. Ecologists from Nationale Soorten Management (NSM) or Vebego cycle or drive through the neighborhoods in Leudal during the day to see where house sparrows are nesting.
The ecologists can be recognized by their reflective vests bearing the Vebego or NSM logo.

Little inconvenience

The ecologists remain on public roads. Only when absolutely necessary may brief contact be made with a resident.

Protected species

The house sparrow is a protected species that often nests under roof tiles or in facades. By accurately mapping where these birds live, their habitats can be better taken into account during insulation and renovation work. In this way, we can work together to protect nature and promote sustainability in Leudal.
We will share more information about the Species Management Plan and the research schedule via our municipal channels.

Why this research

The research into house sparrows is part of a large-scale study into protected species associated with buildings. The research will lead to a species management plan that will enable these species to be protected as effectively as possible. We have previously informed you about this via Research into bats in the neighborhood | Municipality of Leudal.
