What is it?

If you live with one or more adults in the same home, the cost-sharing norm applies. The municipality then takes into account the benefits of sharing expenses in one home.

How does it work?

The municipality uses a formula to calculate what your standard is. The more people who have their main residence in your home, the lower the norm.

The following people do not count toward the number of people you share your home with:

  • persons up to 27 years of age
  • people who live in the home with you and pay commercial rent for it (for example, a tenant or boarder)
  • students

In the following cases, the cost-sharing standard does not apply to you:

  • you are married
  • your partner is also entitled to assistance
  • You share your home only with your spouse

What to do.

Report changes in your living situation to us in a timely manner. The municipality will assess whether the cost-sharing standard applies to you.
