Asphalt maintenance at the Roermondseweg railroad crossing in Haelen

We're getting to work at the railroad crossing on Roermondseweg

What are we going to do and why?

The asphalt on Roermondseweg in Haelen is in need of replacement. That is why we are starting by replacing the asphalt at the railroad crossing. The rest of Roermondseweg will be addressed later, once the connection to the Zevenellen industrial park Zevenellen completed.

Risk of derailment due to track work

We are tackling the railroad crossing first because we are dependent on Prorail, the railway operator. We need their approval whenever we plan to work near the tracks. Prorail will soon be carrying out work on the tracks near Haelen, which means the tracks will be closed to train traffic. Since no trains are running, we can also carry out our maintenance work at this time. We have agreed on this in close consultation with Prorail.

Marking

Once the work is complete, not all of the markings—the white lines—will be on the asphalt yet. This is because we want everything to look cohesive. The best way to achieve this is to have it done all at once. That is why part of the markings will be applied once the remaining asphalt work on Roermondseweg has been completed.

Implementation

The contractor AsfaltZuyd from Maasbree will be carrying out the maintenance work. As a result, a section of Roermondseweg will be closed to all traffic. Traffic will be rerouted so that everyone can still reach their destination. We will do our best to keep any inconvenience to a minimum.

Planning

Work is scheduled to begin at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 25, and the road will reopen later in the day on Friday, June 26, once the asphalt has cooled sufficiently. In the event of inclement weather, the work may be completed later than scheduled.
