Paving the Heide road near the Rondmeer therapeutic farm in Heythuysen
We're getting to work on the Heide in Heythuysen.

What are we going to do and why?
Paving
There is still a section of gravel road on Heide Street in Heythuysen (see image below) near the Rondmeer therapeutic farm. We are going to pave this section.
The current gravel road requires frequent maintenance, and potholes form on it after periods of rain. This creates dangerous conditions for all traffic on the road. By paving this final section, we will make the road safer for road users.
Cut-through traffic
To prevent the road from becoming a shortcut, we are making the asphalt 3 meters wide, installing two speed bumps, and placing bollards along the shoulder. The bollards make the road appear even narrower, which helps reduce speed. Drivers can pull over into the shoulder between the posts, but we’re also creating two asphalt passing lanes so that larger vehicles can pass each other.
Implementation
The work is being carried out by Kurvers Wegenbouw of Heerlen. As a result, the section of Heide where the work is taking place is closed to traffic. However, the homes and businesses remain accessible on foot.
Planning
Work will begin on Monday, June 8, and is expected to last about two weeks. However, due to inclement weather, the work may take longer.
