Serving alcohol during event
What is it?
If you want to serve and sell alcohol during an event, you need an exemption from the municipality.
How does it work?
The following Requirements apply to the serving and selling of alcohol during an event:
- You may not serve and sell alcohol to children under the age of 18.
- You may not serve and sell liquor (>15% alcohol) at the event.
- The person in charge of alcohol:
- is at least 21 years old
- Is not of bad character (no criminal record)
No permit or waiver required
If you want to serve alcohol at a private party, you do not need to apply for a liquor and hospitality license or exemption.
What to do
You apply for the exemption from the municipality where the event will be held. Please provide the following information with your application:
- date of the event
- At what times you want to serve alcohol
How long does it take?
You will be notified within 8 weeks whether you will receive the waiver.
Objecting
Do you disagree with the municipality's decision? Then you can object within 6 weeks.

Would you like Health apply for an exemption? Health you have DigiD (for individuals) or eHerkenning (for foundations, companies, or associations) in time.

After answering a few simple questions, you will immediately know whether an exemption is required for your activity. If necessary, you can submit your application online immediately after completing the checklist.
