Waste Guide App

The AfvalWijzer app from Reinigingsdienst Maasland shows you what type of waste is collected where and when. You only need to enter your address once. If you enable notifications in Settings, we will inform you about changes and important news.

Download the free app AfvalWijzer from the Google Play Store (Android) or the App store (ios). This will keep you up to date with current information about waste collection at your address. If you turn on receiving push notifications, you will even be notified in case of changes.

What belongs where?

In addition to the latest waste information, you can also find a Waste ABC in the app and on the RD Maasland website. This is a handy tool if you are unsure which container your waste should go in.

Below you will find an overview of the most important waste and raw material flows and how they are collected.

Residual waste

Collected once every 4 weeks. You pay per time you put the container on the side of the street. More information can be found on the RD Maasland website .

Green and organic waste

Vegetable, Fruit and Garden (GFT) waste is collected once every 2 weeks. More information can be found on RD Maasland's website . 

PMD waste

Plastic and Metal Packaging and Drinking Packs (PMD waste) is collected at home every two weeks. More information can be found on RD Maasland's website .

Crown rings PMD bags

The digital Map crown rings lists the light poles to which a crown ring is attached. There is also a short manual (601 kB) for using this Map. Twice a year, the MensOntwikkelBedrijf provides a repair round, for the first time in March 2025. In the BuitenBeter app (You can download it from Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iOS)), you can report a broken crown ring.

Garden Waste

From March 15 through November, green waste delivery facility Baexem is open.

Waste paper

Waste paper and cardboard is collected by associations. More information can be found on RD Maasland 's website and in the app Afvalwijzer.

Glass and textiles

You can take it to a container at a neighborhood waste disposal site.

Household Chemical Waste

Bulky waste and other waste

High-rise buildings

Every resident can take residual waste and green and organic waste to a communal container. You only pay for disposing of residual waste.

Litter

Trash bags for collecting litter by volunteers can be picked up at the front desk of the town hall in Heythuysen or at the municipal depot in Hunsel. 

Baby diapers

Can be disposed of with residual waste.

Medical waste (incontinence materials)

This belongs in the residual waste. You may be eligible for compensation from BsGW.

Waste not picked up?
