WRL Opportunities Scheme: every measure counts
Would you like to tackle flooding in your area? If so, you can apply for a subsidy through the Opportunities Scheme of the Limburg Water Safety and Space Program (WRL).

For example, you can receive subsidies for constructing water buffers or widening streams. €5 million is available for this second round of applications.
The Opportunities Scheme supports projects that show clear results within two years. In this way, the scheme helps to implement good ideas more quickly, as long as they are suitable for the location and do not cause new problems elsewhere.
Who is the grant for?
The scheme is intended for anyone with a good plan in Limburg, from individuals to companies, organizations, and municipalities. You can apply for an individual project or together with other parties.
What measures can you take?
Subsidies are available for measures that limit flooding, such as:
- Restoration of streams;
- Constructing or improving water buffers;
- Diverting and draining water;
- Retaining water on slopes
Second application period has started
The second round of the Opportunities Scheme started on January 1, 2026. Applications can be submitted until September 15, 2026.
