Wind Energy
The Rijksoverheid aims for 14% of all energy to be generated sustainably. This is stated in the National Energy Agreement. This agreement applies to all provinces in the Netherlands. Therefore, the municipality of Leudal together with the municipalities of Peel and Maas, Weert and Nederweert and the Province of Limburg have taken the initiative to stimulate and facilitate wind energy.
To this end, the parties put down principles on paper that included the desire that revenues from wind turbines flow back into local communities as much as possible. The Leudal City Council agreed to this in April 2016. The goal is to realize the first wind turbines, preferably cooperatively, in 2020.
