Volunteer Insurance
What is it?
If you do volunteer work, you are not always properly insured. That is why the municipality has taken out volunteer insurance. As a volunteer, you are automatically insured with this insurance. This means that you are insured if you have an accident or cause damage.
Volunteer insurance is a second (secondary) coverage. This means that the volunteer's own liability insurance, or that of the institution for which he or she performs the activities, always takes precedence over the municipality's volunteer insurance. It is also known as "safety net" insurance. It is advisable not to cancel one's own insurance.
How does it work?
Every volunteer is insured with the municipality's volunteer insurance. It does not matter how old you are, what kind of volunteer work you do or how often you do it. You are also insured if you do a social internship.
If you volunteer with the fire or police departments, you are not insured through this insurance.
What am I insured for?
The Municipality of Leudal has taken out basic insurance and supplementary insurance for volunteers. As a result, as a volunteer you are insured for:
- accident and personal property insurance for volunteers and
- Volunteers' liability insurance for damages to third parties.
- the liability insurance of volunteers of legal entities for damages resulting from volunteer work.
- Directors' liability insurance of voluntary directors of a legal entity,
- traffic liability insurance for volunteers of legal entities
- legal expenses insurance for volunteers.
Please note that the legal entity in itself is not covered by the volunteer policy. A separate liability [AVB] insurance policy should be taken out for this.

What do I do in case of damage?
In case of damage, please fill out the damage form below. Send this form by mailPostbus 3008, 6093 ZG Heythuysen) or as an attachment by e-mail (to info@leudal.nl) to the municipality.
We will then forward your form and the insurer will contact you directly. We may also check your information with the association or organization to verify that you are justified in making a claim.
