Displays on or along the road

What is it?

A display is a separate object placed in front of a building in a public space that is clearly related to the business activities of the company located in that building, which also includes:

  • a portable advertising sign;
  • items and substances that are part of a store's regular product range;
  • display materials;
  • playground equipment;
     

When may displays be placed on or along the road?

Displays on or along the road may be placed without a permit if the following regulations are met:

  1. The passageway for traffic must not be obstructed or impeded by the displays, and (traffic) safety must not be compromised.
  2. the display or intended use thereof does not cause any nuisance to users of nearby buildings;
  3. The display must ensure a minimum clearance of 1.5 meters for pedestrians and disabled persons on the sidewalk. The display must not be placed on guide lines for disabled persons.
  4. the display is only present during the opening hours of the store or business;
  5. The display may only be placed in front of the business itself on areas designated for pedestrians and not in front of the entrance to the business.
  6. All orders and instructions from the police, fire department, or special investigating officers, investigators, and/or inspectors must be followed promptly and immediately, otherwise the necessary measures will be taken at the expense of the person reporting the incident.
