Invitation to the Heijkersbroek Field Trip

On Saturday, September 5, the municipality of Leudal, in collaboration with Bosgroep Zuid-Nederland, is organizing a short excursion to the Heijkersbroek nature reserve in Ell. During this excursion, participants will learn about the history, unique features, and challenges facing this area.

Unique flora and fauna

Heijkersbroek is a 55-hectare nature reserve rich in a diverse array of rare plants and animals, such as brown sedge, slender bog-rosemary, painted speedwell, creeping marsh plantain, and dwarf flower. In addition, the area is home to various species of grasshoppers (marsh grasshopper, southern pointed-head grasshopper), dragonflies (meadow damselfly, azure damselfly, broad-winged damselfly, blood-red heath dragonfly), and butterflies (holly blue, Icarus blue, orange tip).

Start

The walk starts from the parking lot in Heijkersbroek (near the fishing pond). The welcome reception begins at 9:30 a.m. with coffee or tea and Limburg vlaai. The excursion lasts until 12:00 p.m. The total distance covered is 3 km. Hiking shoes are recommended.
