Accessibility

It is important to us that everyone can participate. That is why we make sure that everyone can use our website properly. By setting up the current website, we have already taken a big step. But we are not there yet. We continue to work on the usability and accessibility of the website.

Our websites and apps

Below you will find the websites that fall under Leudal Municipality or suppliers we work with. If a survey has been conducted, you can download it at the bottom of the page.

Online services

To make our services good and efficient, we use multiple digital services from various vendors. For example, for making an appointment, requesting Municipal extracts or reporting a report.

Collaborations and partners

We work with some partners. Because we refer our residents to these websites, we think it is important that our partners work on accessibility. They often conduct their own accessibility research and make that research available.

Sub-studies

Here you will find an overview of separate partial studies that have been carried out. In a number of cases these investigations are commissioned by the municipality of Leudal. Sometimes the supplier has the research (into the technique) carried out itself.

Exceptions to accessibility

The municipality is working continuously to improve this website. Not all sections are fully accessible. We list the exceptions here. (in fold-out form)

Documents and videos accompanying news items

News releases generally remain on the website for 2 months. If documents and videos accompany these messages, we make them as accessible as possible. In some cases it is not possible to make them accessible (in the short term) because we are dependent on the organization that provides them, for example. In such cases, we provide an alternative, such as contact information for questions or a text alternative.

Documents (downloads)

Our website contains a number of documents. The vast majority are pdf files. Not all documents are accessible yet. We are addressing this as follows:

  • We are reducing the number of pdfs on the website and are critical in posting new documents.
  • New pdf files are made digitally accessible whenever possible.
  • Application forms (pdf/Word) are converted to digital forms whenever possible.
  • Pdf files sometimes include Maps, floor plans or infographics that are poorly accessible. We explain the plans and provide contact information.

Videos

A number of videos can be found on our website. For videos published after Sept. 23, 2020, they must meet the guidelines around accessibility.

We apply the following principles:

  • Videos published by the municipality we always provide subtitles or offer the transcribed text of the video.
  • Videos published by externals after Sept. 23, 2020, in doing so, we make sure they have subtitles. For older videos, we investigate whether accessible alternatives are available.

Staying accessible

We take the following measures to keep the website accessible:

  • Research: independent experts test (parts of) our website for accessibility. We solve any bottlenecks found. For this we have ongoing agreements with our web supplier.
  • Internal control: editors review content for accessibility before and after publication. This is also done periodically.
  • Working method of web editing: we agreed on writing texts (B1 level).
  • Software: we use special software for checking accessibility requirements.
  • Training: web editors attended training on accessibility.
  • Reporting: we ask website visitors to report any imperfections.
  • Further development: in technical further development, digital accessibility is a starting point.
  • Employees within the organization are trained on the use of clear language.
