Subsidy Program for Local Political Parties in the Municipality of Leudal
A structural subsidy program will be established for local political parties and for local chapters of national political parties. This program is included in the Political Parties Act (Wpp) bill. This bill has been submitted to the House of Representatives but is still awaiting substantive deliberation, which means the law has not yet entered into force. Since the legal basis for disbursing the funds set aside for the aforementioned subsidy is therefore lacking, the municipal executive has established a temporary subsidy scheme to support local political parties until the Wpp enters into force (expected on January 1, 2028).
For whom is this scheme intended?
The subsidy is intended for legal entities and bodies of legal entities (local chapters of national or provincial political parties) that participated in the most recent municipal election in the municipality of Leudal with a slate of candidates and were awarded at least one seat based on that slate.
What can you receive a grant for?
The grant is awarded for expenses directly related to the following activities, such as:
- political education and training activities;
- provision of information;
- maintaining contact with sister organizations outside the Netherlands and supporting educational and training activities for the benefit of those organizations' management;
- political science activities;
- activities to promote the political participation of young people and other underrepresented groups;
- recruiting members;
- involving non-members in the political party's activities;
- recruitment, selection, and mentoring of political officeholders;
- activities related to election campaigns.
The activities included in this exhaustive list are defined in such broad and diverse terms that, in principle, all regular party activities are eligible for subsidies.
When can you submit an application?
Applications for the subsidy must be submitted no later than April 6 for the subsequent period from July 1 through June 30.
Please note: retroactive effect for 2026
This subsidy program has been made retroactive. As a result, local political parties are already eligible this year to receive subsidies under this program for the 2026–2027 period.
A different deadline applies to applications for subsidies for the period from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. Applications must be submitted no later than 8 weeks after the publication of the Subsidy Program for Decentralized Political Parties in the Municipality of Leudal, specifically by November 24, 2026.
