Moving forward together: use the subsidy to encourage more residents to exercise and participate in sports in Leudal
In Leudal, we work together to build a healthy, strong, and connected community. Sports and exercise play an important role in this. That is why, since 2023, there has been a subsidy scheme for organizations and associations that set up new activities to encourage residents to participate in sports and exercise. Many great initiatives have recently made use of this scheme. And the good news is that there is still budget available for 2026. So now is the time to submit your idea.

With the Leudal Sports and Exercise Agreement, we support activities that contribute to:
- more enjoyment in sports and exercise
- safe and accessible sports for everyone
- strong and future-proof associations
- health and socializing in our villages
Alderman Pieke Houben:
We see that sport connects people, offers opportunities, and makes our residents more energetic. That is why we continue to invest in great initiatives. Together, we are getting Leudal moving.
Great examples from our community
De Heikei: new lessons for children and young people
Thanks to the subsidy, the groups from De Heikei were able to try out judo, dance, and Sherborne. All groups received lessons from various specialist teachers. The participants clearly enjoyed the activities, and the supervisors gained ideas for continuing the activities themselves in their lessons. The purchase of materials such as mats and equipment means that the activities can be continued on a permanent basis.
Exercise group for toddlers in Grathem
With the support of the subsidy, Fysiotherapie Helwegen-Peters started an exercise group for toddlers.
With special, safe play equipment, the little ones can now learn to move in a fun way. Within six weeks, the group was full and there was even a waiting list. A pediatric physical therapist and a volunteer supervise the lessons. The exercise group has become a valuable new activity for Grathem.
Judo Ryu Leudal: resilience and behavior in schools
With support from the Sports and Exercise Agreement, Judo Ryu Leudal offers resilience lessons at primary schools. The lessons focus on self-confidence, respect, cooperation, and discipline. Schools are enthusiastic and see children growing in attitude and behavior. Practicing backward falls, a safe way of falling, proves time and again to be a valuable and recognizable exercise for students.
Volleyball clubs Accretos and VC HHC grow thanks to professional coaching
For many clubs, recruiting and retaining trainers and volunteers is a challenge. Thanks to the subsidy, Accretos and VC HHC were able to jointly appoint a club coach, an experienced volleyball trainer and coach. The coach supports trainers in their training sessions, organizes clinics, and helps with recruitment campaigns at schools. The results are clear:
- trainers are more confident in front of the group
- training sessions are better and more enjoyable
- more youth members are signing up
- Even parents have become enthusiastic and now form their own training group.
Without the Sports and Exercise Agreement, this would not have been possible.
Leudal sports introduction: 2,300 children reached
In April, Negen organized a large sports introduction week in collaboration with sports clubs and schools. No fewer than 2,300 children were introduced to sports activities in their own municipality. In addition, 65 children signed up for extra activities. Several children have since become members of a sports club. Parents also called on Negen's exercise broker to find suitable activities.
