What you can do in the event of a sewer blockage depends on the location of the blockage

• The municipality must provide maintenance of the public sewer system.
• You are responsible for the sewer system on your own property.

Sewer clog fix?

A clog in your home or in the sewer system on your own property is something you have to solve yourself; you cannot turn to the municipality for this. There are companies that specialize in this and can help you.

First, have the cause of the clog investigated. To do this, you need to dig up the yard drain (or have it dug up). This is often indicated on the construction drawing or you can request the details from the municipality.

• Is there no water in the yard drain? Then the clog is in your own sewer. You then take care of solving the clog yourself.
• Is there water in the yard drain? Then the clog is on municipal property. You contact the municipality.
• If you live in the outlying area and are connected to a pressure sewer system, please contact the municipality at (0475)859000. We will first check whether there is a malfunction.
• Is your home connected to an IBA? If so, contact the Limburg Water Board at 088-8420200.

Cost

• You pay for a clog on your own property, even if it turns out afterwards that the clog was in the municipal section. You cannot subsequently hold the municipality liable for the costs incurred. That is why it is important to check in advance where the clog is located.
• A blockage in the municipal section is solved by the municipality. The municipality pays these costs. Therefore, do not go to work yourself.
