RES North and Central Limburg
The fifteen municipalities of North and Central Limburg form the RES region of North and Central Limburg with the Province of Limburg, the Limburg Water Board and Enexis. Together with residents, businesses, civil society organizations and other stakeholders, we are creating a Regional Energy Strategy (RES) in which we examine:
- How we can save energy so we don't have to generate as much.
- Where and how much renewable electricity can be generated in our region.
- How to store and transport energy.
- How we distribute heat.
Why an RES?
In 2019, the Netherlands agreed in the Climate Accord that by 2030 our CO2 emissions must be half what they were in 1990. And even 95% lower by 2050. Thirty RES regions in the Netherlands are each making an RES stating what contribution the region will make to this goal.
Working together
The RES is primarily a collaboration between residents, businesses, civil society organizations and governments. The RES connects parties, shares knowledge and looks at challenging issues that can only be solved by looking beyond municipal boundaries. Together we make feasible and affordable choices for our region. Everyone ultimately needs to do their part. We want to use energy more efficiently and generate our own renewable energy. Fortunately, there are already plenty of good examples.
Opportunities for the region
This energy transition is a task, but certainly also an opportunity. It is good for ourselves, our environment and offers new opportunities for business. The task is great, but the importance is even greater. Thanks to the unique location of our region, the strong mutual connection that characterizes Limburgers and Limburg, and the will to keep innovating, we can realize our ambitions. Let's get to work together!
