Reconstruction of Ruttenlaan Notary Office in Heythuysen
We are going to work on Notaris Ruttenlaan.

What are we going to do and why?
We will be working on Notaris Ruttenlaan between Julianaplein and De Gaard because several parts of the street are in poor condition. The road, sidewalks, public lighting, and sewer system are in need of replacement. The trees that are still standing are also deteriorating rapidly and will be replaced as part of this project.
Replacing existing sewer
The existing sewer system, including house connections, is in such poor condition that it needs to be replaced.
Pavements
The asphalt on the road will be replaced by pavers. This contributes to the image of a 30 km/h zone and a residential street, which has a positive effect on the recognizability of such areas and the behavior of vehicle drivers. The tiles in the sidewalk will be renewed.
Disconnecting public space
The aforementioned activities also offer opportunities in this project. We are going to disconnect rainwater from public spaces. We will allow this rainwater to infiltrate the ground by means of a crate system.
This has a number of advantages:
- Clean rainwater is no longer sent to the wastewater treatment plant. This improves the efficiency of the water treatment process and keeps the costs of water treatment as low as possible.
- Rainwater remains where it falls. This helps maintain groundwater levels, and plants and trees absorb this rainwater.
- Disconnecting rainwater creates more space in the sewer system. This means that less untreated sewage is discharged into the environment during heavy rainfall.
Would you like to disconnect yourself?
Yes, you can! You can disconnect part of your home from the sewer system. There are various ways to do this. For help with this, please visit the Rainwater Disconnection Subsidy page (www.leudal.nl/subsidie-afkoppelen-hemelwater). This page explains how the subsidy scheme works. Would you like to see examples of how you can disconnect? Then take a look at the Waterklaar page.
Greening
Finally, we will green the street by planting hedges, shrubs, and trees along the road.
Residents' evenings
The design was presented at the first residents' evening in October. Through constructive consultation, we came to the conclusion that local residents would like to see more greenery in the street than was provided for in the design.
The desire for more greenery has been embraced by the municipality and incorporated into the design. This modified design was presented at the second residents' evening in November. During this evening, we noticed that the new design is widely supported by local residents. They indicated that they appreciate the fact that we have incorporated their comments and wishes into the modified design.
This way, we can work together to ensure that we can make our residents' living environment a pleasant place to live!
Planning
The project is now being further developed by the municipality in collaboration with engineering firm Ducot. The necessary studies have already been carried out and the drawings are being further developed, followed by the specifications (work description).
Once these documents are ready, the contract will be put out to tender and awarded to a contractor. After the contract has been awarded, the contractor will prepare the work and then carry it out. As soon as the exact schedule for the work has been drawn up, it will be shared with the residents.
The schedule is as follows:
- Work preparation for the fourth quarter of 2025
- Tender/award 1st quarter of 2026
- Implementation 1st/2nd quarter of 2026
