Handle fireworks safely
A nationwide fireworks ban goes into effect on August 1. As a result, fireworks can be turned in at various locations in Limburg in September. This service is free, anonymous, and carries no fine.
Drop-off Locations
- September 3 at the Venlo City Hall, Hulsterweg 19, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.;
- September 5 at Maastricht City Hall, Paul-Henri Spaaklaan 2, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.;
- September 17 at the Roermond City Hall, Slachthuisstraat 102, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Nationwide Fireworks Ban
With the fireworks ban, the government aims to help ensure a safer New Year’s Eve and reduce the number of accidents, property damage, injuries, and incidents involving emergency responders. Only small fireworks in category F1, such as sparklers and firecrackers, will remain permitted.
Destruction
It is not permitted to throw fireworks in the trash or leave them on the street. Storing fireworks at home poses risks. All types of fireworks can be turned in at the drop-off locations, including those that are no longer permitted under the new ban and those that have been banned for some time. The turned-in fireworks are then safely removed and destroyed. There is no charge for turning in fireworks, and no personal information is recorded.
