Leudal, Roermond, and Venlo are working with residents to study air quality around ports, industrial areas, and traffic
What is the air quality like in our area? And how do activities in our living and working environments affect it? The municipalities of Leudal, Roermond, and Venlo will investigate this in 2027. The project is part of the Clean Air Agreement, under which governments are working together to achieve cleaner air and a healthier living environment.

Online Information Session
Throughout 2027, Leudal, Roermond, and Venlo will conduct a study on the impact of ports, industrial areas, and transportation hubs. In Leudal, this research will take place around the Zevenellen industrial park. It will be conducted in collaboration with residents, businesses, and expert organizations, including the RIVM and the GGD Limburg-Noord. The goal is to gain a better understanding of local conditions. To explain how the research is structured and how residents and business owners can participate, an online information session will be held on November 16 at 7:30 p.m. You can register via our website.

The in-person follow-up meeting is scheduled for December 1 at De Roffert community center in Buggenum.
Stay in the loop
A great deal is already known about air quality in the Netherlands and in Limburg as well. However, there may be local variations. The municipalities want to better understand these differences. They are doing this by combining local measurements with existing data and residents’ local perceptions. This study is not intended to monitor individual residents or businesses. The results will be carefully reviewed by experts and stakeholders. Afterward, the findings will be analyzed to determine their implications and identify potential ways to improve air quality if necessary.
