Pupil Transport
What is it?
Pupil transport is for children in special education (SO), special primary education (SBO) and secondary special education (VSO). Your child may be able to use this facility when the distance between the home address and school is more than 6 km. In addition, this provision is also available for pupils in regular education who cannot travel to school independently due to a physical, mental or sensory disability.
The municipality has a pupil transportation regulation that lists the options for:
- an allowance for dropping off and picking up your child yourself
- an allowance for a bicycle, public transportation or adapted transportation (possibly with reimbursement for accompaniment)
- (adapted) transportation by bus or cab
What does pupil transportation cost?
For transportation to an elementary school or school for special elementary education (SBO), the municipality may apply a financial threshold. This means that the municipality may provide that:
- You are responsible for the cost of the first mileage. In this case, you will only be reimbursed for the costs that exceed the threshold amount.
- If the distance between the school and your home is more than 20 kilometers, the municipality may require a financial contribution according to your ability to pay.
