Mr. H.M.J. (Henny) van den Beuken, Roggel
Member in the Order of Orange Nassau

Mr. van den Beuken is actively involved in our community on multiple fronts, both in sports and in fostering connections. Collaboration and facilitation are high on his agenda. Whether it involves the blessing of motorcycles from the wider area or various matters for SV Roggel—from the good times to the bad, sponsorship issues, and maintaining contact with Roggel’s associations—Mr. van den Beuken is the right person to turn to.
Ms. T.G.M. (Door) Vercoulen-Verdonschot, Roggel
Member in the Order of Orange Nassau

Ms. Vercoulen is deeply committed to youth work in Roggel, theater—particularly the youth division—organizing the annual motorcycle ride for people with disabilities, and organizing the children’s farm wedding; in short, she is a true jack-of-all-trades. She has a special place in her heart for people with disabilities and our younger generation. For many years, she has been a caregiver for her sister Annie, who lives at the Koraalgroep care facility in Heel; she has been performing these caregiving duties even while working as the owner of a flower shop.
Ms. C.P.M. (Cocki) Westerburgen-van Hest, Heythuysen
Member in the Order of Orange Nassau

Ms. Westerburgen puts all her social skills to good use at various organizations in Heythuysen and beyond. Whether it’s the Senior Citizens’ Association, the Zonnebloem, or the youth division of the local tennis club, you can always count on Cocki. She’s an active volunteer who holds her own, always makes time for a chat, and loves to roll up her sleeves and get to work. Whether you’re young or a bit older, caring for others is simply in her blood.
Mr. W.C.M. (Wiel) Derikx, Neer
Member in the Order of Orange Nassau

Mr. Derikx has been a deeply committed musical volunteer in our village Neer for many years. For over 30 years, he has devoted himself to the local choirs. On the administrative side, and wherever needed, he rolls up his sleeves and gets to work. A little later, a new passion entered his life: the Friedesse Mill. He supported the miller and enjoyed organizing all kinds of activities there as well. In recent years, he has limited himself to music, given the many hours he devotes to it with such passion. Whatever Wiel does, he does with complete dedication.
Ms. M.D.H. (Thea) Schrurs-Lemmen, Kelpen-Oler
Member in the Order of Orange Nassau

Ms. Schrurs of Kelpen-Oler is a resident with a strong sense of responsibility who is dedicated to social awareness. Through the women’s association, she has emerged as someone who, by leveraging her organizational and interpersonal skills, has been able to breathe new life into the group. Her selfless dedication to the Eetpunt Kelpen-Oler has ensured that an affordable three-course meal is served every month to seniors and those living alone. In this way, she keeps a watchful eye on social connections, loneliness, and care needs among these residents.
Mr. W.H. (Wim) Kuijpers, Ittervoort
Member in the Order of Orange Nassau

Mr. Kuijpers has been volunteering in both sports and music for many years. He is a true community-minded person through and through. For the Sint Lucia brass band, he is the person who handles all sorts of tasks to ensure various events run smoothly. He organizes, coordinates, and executes. At the Veritas soccer club in Neeritter, Mr. Kuijpers was a very active volunteer in his younger years, coaching and training many teams. For the past 25 years, he has been the perfect handyman. Nowadays, given his respectable age, he has taken on the role of groundskeeper and ensures that the adjacent soccer field is in beautiful condition.
Mr. G.J.M. (Geert) Janssen, Baexem
Member in the Order of Orange Nassau

Mr. Janssen is deeply connected to the residents and members he serves. He is actively involved with various organizations and is a true connector who is highly valued by many residents. Whether it concerns music, Hart Voor Baexem, financial matters, or social issues, he is the kind of person who always contributes ideas, gets involved, and unconditionally makes time for these causes. Mr. Janssen is invaluable to the Baexem community.
Mr. W.P. (Wim) Meuwissen, Hunsel
Member in the Order of Orange Nassau

Mr. Meuwissen has been deeply involved in the life of the church community in Hunsel for many years. In the broadest sense of the word, he is involved in all sorts of activities that one might expect in a church community. As a board member of the federation and the Thorn deanery, he is well-informed about all matters pertaining to the church. The Hunsel parish holds a special place in Wim Meuwissen’s heart.
D.G.H. (Danny) Pasmans, Ittervoort
Member in the Order of Orange Nassau

Even as a child, Danny was an enthusiastic member of Jong Nederland. She soon became actively involved as a leader with Jeugdwerk Thorn. She has proven to be an invaluable asset to Jeugdwerk Thorn, where she has held a variety of roles, ranging from leader and chair of working groups to treasurer and secretary. Danny is a person of great value to the organization, but certainly also to the children. Especially the children who sometimes struggle a bit. In her own way, Danny shows them how they can connect with the other children, and that they are allowed and able to be themselves.
Mr. H.W.P. (Henk) Schreurs, Horn
Member in the Order of Orange Nassau

Henk Schreurs, who comes from an educational background, has always remained eager to learn. Driven by this curiosity, he became one of the founders of the Horn Local History Society. In various roles, he serves as the linchpin of this community, always ready to offer advice and assistance to everyone. He also has a deep affection for the Limburg dialect. He is the man who knows how to keep the past alive in the present.
Ms. A.H.J.M.M. (Anny) Mertens-van Buggenum, Heythuysen
Member in the Order of Orange Nassau

Ms. Mertens has been active in various choirs in Heythuysen for many years. In addition to singing herself, she is also the one who rolls up her sleeves to help with all kinds of routine and support tasks. Since the founding of the Local History Society in Heitse, she has been an active member in the broadest sense of the word. The fact that she is active there as a woman is greatly appreciated by the society, as there is a surplus of men. In addition, she ensures that many residents in Leudal receive a fresh, hot meal through the “Tafeltje Dekje” program. She always takes a moment for a chat, which is greatly appreciated by the clients. She is also an indispensable pillar for seniors in the realm of sports, meticulously organizing many bike rides for this group. Here you see a woman who is a jack-of-all-trades. She is grounded in the present, dedicated to caring for our fellow human beings, committed to the past, and musically talented to boot.
Ms. D.J. (Door) Smeets-Dirkx, Neer
Member in the Order of Orange Nassau

Ms. Dirkx is one of those quiet forces within the volunteer community. She’s always there for everyone, but prefers to do so behind the scenes. Whether it’s for a fellow person with disabilities, someone feeling lonely, or the residents of the local care farm, Ms. Dirkx is always there. She’s always up for a walk, a creative activity, or just a chat and a cup of coffee. Those are the moments she truly enjoys. If she can help brainstorm ideas for organizing something, she’s ready to pitch in, and if it needs to be carried out, she’s also happy to lend a helping hand.
Mr. P.H.L. (Peter) van Melick, Neer
Member in the Order of Orange Nassau

Mr. van Melick served as a council member for the municipality of Leudal for over 19 years. He stepped down from his position on March 30.
