Starting a hotel, bed and breakfast or campground
What is it?
If you are going to start a hotel, bed and breakfast (B&B), camping or other overnight accommodation, notify the municipality. Also, if you are taking over, relocating or ending it, contact the municipality.
What to do.
- You notify the municipality that you want to start a hotel, B&B, campground or other overnight accommodation. Please provide the following information when doing so:
- details of the manager
- the location of your business
- Can more than 10 people stay overnight in your business at a time? Then apply for an environmental permit for fire-safe use via Omgevingsloket.
- If you also want to sell alcohol there, you must apply for an alcohol license from the municipality in the process.
Keeping night records
Every business that provides sleeping accommodation must keep a night register. This is required by law. In the night register you keep records of all guests. Put in the night register:
- name and address of the guest
- day of arrival
- day of departure
- what proof of identity the guest has shown
Additional information
There is a lot involved in starting a hotel, B&B or campground. You may need more permits. Think, for example, of a renovation and advertising. You also have to deal with rules for hygiene, catering and hospitality. The municipality is happy to help you with this.
