The MOB works for the Munster Cafe!

Koen is one of the success stories of the MensOntwikkelBedrijf (MOB). He found himself a job at the Munstercafé in Roermond and developed himself enormously there. During this process he was guided by job coach Rita. She is the link between Koen and his employer. An opportunity in the hospitality industry

Koen had always been interested in the hospitality industry, and through an acquaintance he got the chance to spend a day at the Munster café on a trial basis. He liked it so much that he was hired immediately. He has now been working there for almost a year and has made great strides.

"The first few weeks I really had to find my niche." says Koen. "But soon I knew better and better what was expected of me. Now I get to take orders, checkout, and even inventory and order the weekly coffee supply."

Working in the hospitality industry is dynamic and no day is the same. For Koen, it took some getting used to in the beginning that he never knew exactly how busy it was going to be or what time he finished. "I found that difficult, but I'm starting to get used to it more and more," he said.

Growing in the profession

In addition to the day-to-day operations at the Munster café, Koen also continued his development. He took a two-day wine course and obtained his wine certificate. But what he enjoys most about his work? The social contact with the guests. "Many regular guests come here especially to have a chat. That personal contact is what makes my job so much fun."

A valuable colleague

Koen's supervisor Sanne is appalled by him.

"Koen has already made great strides. He is motivated and does his best to please the guests. Some regular guests even come especially for him." 

Thanks to Rita's guidance, there is always room for discussion. This helps Koen as well as the team. "He knows well what is expected of him. Koen takes initiative and picks up more and more tasks. We are very happy with him and really proud of his growth," says Sanne.

Thanks to MOB's support, Koen has found a stable job in which he continues to develop. His story shows how valuable it is to get the right guidance to work that suits you.

Working together for the future

The MensOntwikkelBedrijf guides vulnerable residents and benefit recipients to suitable work. This is done in cooperation with local companies and organizations. Because in Leudal, everyone should be able to participate. The MOB is located at Graaf van Loonlaan 2a in Heythuysen.
