Handicapped parking pass

What is it?

A disabled parking permit allows you to park in disabled parking spaces in all EU countries, Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland and Switzerland. However, you must follow local parking rules.

There are 3 types of Maps.

  1. Driver's card
    • You cannot walk more than 100 meters independently for at least six months. Not even with aids, such as a cane or crutches.
    • You can drive your own car.
  2. Passenger card
    • You cannot walk more than 100 meters independently for at least six months. Not even with aids, such as a cane or crutches.
    • You cannot drive a car by yourself. You constantly need the help of a driver.
    • You can also apply for a combination of a driver card and a passenger card. For example, if you are permanently confined to a wheelchair.
  3. Settings Card
    • The board of an institution where people with disabilities reside may apply for a disabled parking permit for the transportation of residents.

What does it cost?

Cost

You apply for a disabled parking permit at the municipality and you pay a fee for this. These fees amount to:

  • For an application with a medical examination: €113.20
  • For an application without a medical examination or a renewal of a parking permit: €50.85

You pay these fees after the decision is issued. You will also pay these fees if you receive a rejection. The parking permit is valid for up to 5 years.

Medical examination

  • Upon initial application for a handicapped parking permit.
  • When an application for renewal of a disabled parking permit does not clearly show the medical indication from the already existing file.
  • A medical authority examines your physical disability. The municipality determines which authority does this.

How does it work?

  • The parking ticket is in a person's name.
  • The parking map is not by license plate number. You can use the Map for any car.
  • The parking pass is valid for up to 5 years.
