€1,000,000 extra requested for starter loans
The Leudal municipal executive is asking the municipal council to make an additional €1,000,000 available for starter loans. This will enable first-time buyers to continue to count on financial support when purchasing their first home in the coming years. Due to high demand, the available budget will be spent sooner than expected.

Interest in starter loans is greater than ever in 2026. By mid-February, six starter loans had already been granted and nearly 20 applications were pending. That is normally the number for an entire year.
Without additional funding, the scheme would have to be temporarily suspended. With this extra investment, the scheme can remain available to first-time buyers who want to purchase their first home in Leudal.
Important for quality of life
Alderman Jan den Teuling:
We want to keep young people in Leudal and attract new starters. They are important for the livability of our villages and for our economy. The housing market is difficult for starters. With a starter loan, we can make a difference for many young people, enabling them to buy their first home.
Collaboration with the Province of Limburg
The municipality provides starter loans in collaboration with the Province of Limburg. Since January 1, 2026, the municipality and province have each paid half of every starter loan. A starter loan amounts to a maximum of €56,000. With the additional investment of €1,000,000, the municipality is expected to be able to help approximately 40 first-time buyers. The province is also contributing €1,000,000. This brings the total additional funding available for the housing market in Leudal to €2,000,000.
Suitable housing
The starter loan fits in with the municipality's ambition to offer residents a suitable housing career. This gives starters more opportunities on the housing market. When starters buy a home, it sets off a chain reaction of moves, enabling other residents to take the next step in their housing career.
More information
The municipal council will decide on this during its meeting on April 21, 2026. First-time buyers from all villages in Leudal can make use of the scheme. This also applies to first-time buyers from outside the municipality who would like to live in Leudal.
