Help us plan the playgrounds in Neer, Baexem, and Ell
After the summer break, we’ll begin creating designs for the layout of central and smaller play areas in the villages of Neer, Baexem, and Ell. Residents are invited to share their thoughts on the future of these spaces. At the end of August, all residents of the three villages will receive a personal letter with information about the process and opportunities to submit ideas.

As a municipality, we want to create play and gathering spaces that reflect residents’ wishes and meet the needs of the various villages. That is why we actively involve residents in the design process.
Designing Together
During the participatory process, residents can share what they consider important for the central playgrounds in their village. What play equipment would they like to see? How can the space be made more appealing to different age groups? And what opportunities are there to combine play, physical activity, socializing, and greening?
A playground is much more than just a collection of play equipment. It’s a place where children play, where young people meet, and where neighbors gather. That’s why we think it’s important for residents to have a say in the design from the very beginning. That way, we can work together to create spaces that suit the village and the people who live there.
Part of the playground policy
The participation process is part of the 2024–2034 Play Space Policy, “Playing, Exercising, and Meeting Together”. This policy outlines how play, sports, and gathering spaces will be renovated and improved in the coming years.
The approach focuses on six key areas:
- central play and gathering areas;
- a diverse range of sports and games;
- an inclusive play area for everyone;
- resident engagement;
- greening the play environment;
- public and accessible play areas.
From 2025 through 2030, work will be carried out annually in several villages to develop new designs for central play and gathering areas. Lessons learned from previous projects will be incorporated into this process.
