Neighborhood Prevention
In several neighborhoods of Leudal, residents, municipality and police are working together to create a safe living environment.
Point of contact for the neighborhood
The neighborhood coordinator is the representative of the neighborhood who has regular contact with the municipality and police regarding prevention of crime and unsafe situations in the neighborhood. The neighborhood coordinator also makes sure that safety wishes are passed on to the municipality. The neighborhood coordinator is the eyes and ears of the neighborhood. He cannot do this alone; he needs help from all the residents of the neighborhood. Do you have a report? Then pass it on to the neighborhood coordinator. Here you will find an overview of neighborhood coordinators.
You can also make a report to the municipality through the BuitenBeter app. You can download this app from Google Play (Android) or the App Store (IOS).

Neighborhood WhatsApp
Neighborhood WhatsApp is a modern digital form of neighborhood prevention. There are now more and more WhatsApp groups that try to make a neighborhood safer on a local scale. Up to 256 people can participate in such a group. The great advantage of WhatsApp is that you can quickly send each other a message, alert each other and reach a very large group of people. At the same time, it leads to social contacts.
In every core of Leudal, Buurt-whatsapp is active. Would you like to be added to the Buurt-whatsapp of your core? Then you can contact a Neighborhood WhatsApp administrator in your core. These are often different contacts than the neighborhood coordinators. If the administrator is not known to you, you can send an email to buurtwhatsapp@leudal.nl.
Rules of play for participation Neighborhood WhatsApp
- Participants have a minimum age of 18.
- Participants are residents of the neighborhood/neighborhood where the WhatsApp group is active.
- Setting up a WhatsApp group is a citizen initiative and is intended to inform each other about suspicious situations. The police take action only when a report is made to 1-1-2.
- Follow the following steps when seeing a suspicious situation S = Signal. A = Alert 1-1-2. A = App to make the suspicious situation known to others. R = Respond. Do this by, for example, going outside and seeing which direction the person is walking or noting the license plate number of a suspicious car. Remember your own safety and do not speak to any persons.
- Through a WhatsApp message, let each other know that 1-1-2 has been called. Prevent multiple 1-1-2 calls to the police by indicating on the Whatsapp group that the police have been informed and alerted. Pay attention to language. Do not swear, curse, discriminate and the like.
- Do not play your own judge or break any rules/laws.
- Sending photos of a suspicious person or vehicle in the app group is only allowed after consultation with police for the purpose of providing a description. Offender characteristics such as gender, skin color height and striking features can also be well described. For vehicles, consider color, make, type and license plate number. Keep messaging short and clear. Do not create long stories.
- Please use this WhatsApp group only for its intended purpose and not for mutual contact/private messages. Prevention tips are welcome. Please share them with your contact via email.
