BIZ - Ittervoort

What is a BIZ?

A BIZ is for and by entrepreneurs and allows entrepreneurs to jointly invest in the preservation and development of a certain area such as a business park or city center. The instrument used for this purpose is an area-specific tax levy which can be established by the municipality at the request of entrepreneurs. The basis is the Business Investment Zones Act (BIZ Act).

On September 24, the Leudal City Council approved the Ordinance BedrijvenInvesteringsZone bedrijventerrein Ittervoort 2025-2029 and the levy (= the BIZ contribution) has been established. The levy is imposed and collected in the form of a tax and the proceeds are paid in full to the Stichting BIZ bedrijventerrein Ittervoort, which carries out the activities on behalf of the entrepreneurs.

Support measurement

The adopted ordinance will take effect after the final support measurement (vote) shows that a sufficient number of taxpaying entrepreneurs agree to the introduction of the BIZ. There is sufficient support if the minimum response rate is 50%. At least two-thirds of the votes cast must support the proposal and these in favor must represent more than 50% of the WOZ value of all voters.

The vote is secret and the execution is done by ambassadors. These ambassadors have made a declaration regarding implementation (including secrecy). There is an independent supervisor of compliance with the procedure and counting of votes.
