Protected housing (Wmo)

What is it?

Protected housing is a provision under the Social Support Act (Wmo). The municipality can help you when you need support with living. In sheltered housing, you usually live in an institution with supervision and guidance. Sometimes it is also possible to get a form of protected living in a home situation. Protected living may be necessary, for example, to teach you to handle money and your living situation responsibly. You may also be watched in this way to make sure you are taking good care of yourself.

What does it cost?

There is no fee to file a protected living notification.

If you use Protected Housing you will move to the Protected Housing location. As long as you live within a Protected Living location, you will pay a personal contribution. The co-payment will be charged to you by CAK. Information about the personal contribution can be found on the site: www.hetcak.nl. Here you can also make a test calculation of the amount of your own contribution.

How does it work?

If you have many, distinct problems, you may be eligible for sheltered housing.

Each municipality is responsible for sheltered housing itself. However, your municipality can outsource the tasks to another municipality in your area. This municipality determines whether you are eligible for sheltered housing and gives you the decision. If you qualify, this municipality will also provide you with the facility. The municipality may ask for a contribution towards the costs.

What to do.

You can make a notification for sheltered housing digitally using the notification button below.

Signing up for sheltered housing

Only if you are unable to make a digital report, you can also contact the Wmo desk of the municipality of Leudal by telephone: (0475) 85 90 00. You can also contact the Wmo desk for further information about sheltered housing. Available Monday to Thursday from 09.00 to 17.00, on Friday from 09.00 to 12.30.

How long does it take?

When you file a report, the municipality may take 8 weeks to process your report, interview and award the facility. In practice, this may also be shorter.

It may take longer if, for example, outside consultants need to be consulted (e.g., medical advice) or if you yourself fail to provide certain information in time.

You live in a municipality outside the Central and North Limburg region

You should apply to your own municipality where you live for Protected Housing. They will investigate with you what options are available in your own region.

If the care offer protected housing is located in another region, they can request this from the chosen region through a warm transfer.

If you want a specific care offer in the North and Central Limburg region, you, or together with your municipality or care provider, should discuss this with the wishing municipality in the North and Central Limburg region where the Protected Housing location is located. This preferred municipality will involve your municipality of registration in the investigation.
