Guidance/day care (Wmo)

What is it?

Guidance is not about taking over tasks, but about supporting them. It is then about support in performing general daily things by the client himself. There are two types of accompaniment:

  • individual support
  • group counseling

Individual counseling

Individual counseling may include, for example:

  • Assisting in providing (daily) structure and direction.
  • Help in planning, encouraging and preparing activities such as:
    • Determining the rhythm of the day
    • Social contacts and social environment
    • Understanding possible consequences of decisions
  • Preparing for conversations regarding housing, education, work, income, buying/paying something
  • Assistance in performing skills learned during treatments

Group counseling (day care)

Day care provides activities and focuses on:

  • activation
  • motion
  • learning to cope with dementia
  • contacts
  • a meaningful use of the day
  • prevention of loneliness
  • taking over supervision and providing rhythm and regularity
  • Relief and support through relief of the family caregiver

Group counseling involves a type of daytime structuring other than work or school. This increases self-reliance and can prevent (crisis) admission.

The municipality may charge a fee for providing counseling.

How does it work?

What support the municipality provides depends on what is the best solution for you. Together with the municipality, the first step is to see what solutions are possible together with people from your own environment. These may be family, friends or acquaintances but also your neighbors. We call this using your 'own strength'.

Various types

Does this not work or not enough? Then the municipality can arrange support in consultation with you. This support comes in 2 varieties:

  1. In-kind support
  2. A personal budget

With in-kind support, the assistance is provided by a provider with whom the municipality has a contract. With a personal budget, you will receive an amount with which you must purchase the assistance you need yourself.

If you cannot properly justify why a personal budget would be more appropriate for you than in-kind guidance and/or day care, guidance through a contract provider of the municipality is preferred. If you think you qualify for a personal budget, you will have to motivate this well. If you cannot, you will receive in-kind support.

For guidance, you pay a co-payment of up to €21 per month. More information on the CAK website.

What to do.

I need help

To determine what kind of help is best for you, contact the municipality. This is called making a "notification" of your (help) request. You can do this easily using the notification form below.

Report your request for help

I filed a report. How to proceed now?

If necessary, a customer director of Wmo from the municipality will contact you to make an appointment for a personal interview. This can be at a location of your preference. You can always bring someone along, for example a family member or a professional social worker or client supporter, to the meeting with the client director. You can request free client support from Algemeen Maatschappelijk Werk Leudal (tel.: 088 - 656 06 00). During the interview, we look at your question and what support is appropriate. But also what you can do yourself or with the help of your family or surroundings. Together we look for a tailor-made solution. For more information, go to the kitchen table consultation.

What does it cost?

There is no charge for submitting a Wmo notification form.

How long does it take?

When you report for support, the municipality may take 8 weeks to process your report, interview and award the support. In practice, this may also be shorter.

It may take longer if, for example, outside consultants need to be consulted (e.g., medical advice) or if you yourself fail to provide certain information in time.
