What is attestation de vita?

An attestation de vita is an international proof that you are alive. You apply for the attestation de vita in person at the municipality.

If you need proof of being alive in the Netherlands, Aruba, Curaçao, Bonaire, Sint Maarten, Sint Eustatius and Saba, you do not apply for an attestation de vita but for a proof of being alive.

What does it cost?

An attestation de vita costs €17.10.

For foreign pension funds, the attestation de vita is free. However, you must provide proof of what you need it for.

How does it work?

You need an attestation de vita, for example, if your foreign life insurer or pension fund asks for it. An attestation de vita is available in Dutch and in French. The document is valid for 6 months.

What do I need?

  • A valid ID.
  • If you are requesting the attestation de vita for a pension fund, also bring the letter from the pension fund requesting it.
