New scheme for flower and herb-rich field edges

In 2026, the municipality of Leudal will again make seed mixtures available to farmers and landowners in the outlying area. With this scheme, the municipality wants to contribute to a colorful and biodiverse landscape, in which birds, insects and other animals also get more space.

In 2024, interest was high, with 58 participants together sowing over 21,000 m² of flowers and herbs. The project will be followed up again in 2026. Seed mixtures will be distributed to participants in February 2026.

Not ordering seeds

Because the municipality will again provide free seed mixtures in 2026, there is no need for interested farmers and large landowners to order seeds themselves in advance for next year. More information about the scheme and how to apply will follow in mid-October via the website of the Municipality of Leudal.

Alderman pleased with this initiative

This scheme shows that we are investing in the future of our countryside together with our residents. The flower and herb-rich field edges not only provide more color and nature experience, but also contribute to stronger biodiversity and an attractive habitat for birds, bees and other insects. I am pleased that we can take up this initiative again.

said Alderman Jan den Teuling.
